WINTER 2010 LEECH LAKE FISHING

Walleye, Northern Pike, Jumbo Perch, Tullibee

Activity is very high on the lake as the snow we have has been settling down and we now can drive on the lake even without the plowed roads. We have a network of roads to many of the good fishing spots on the lake. They run out of the harbor at Big Rock Resort and up to black’s reef and over to Marshall point and places in between. Walleyes, Northern Pike, and Tullibee (Cisco) are really the hot fish right now. Jumbo Perch are biting but not as aggressively as they will later on in the winter. The number of fishermen on the lake is unreal, large ice castles to small portables are everywhere on the lake, and with this week’s mild weather there are people fishing with no shelters. If you want a good winter fishing experience come to Big Rock Resort with your own fish house or rent one from us. Cabins are available to stay in all week long.

SNOWMOBILE AND SKI TRAILS
Many miles of beautiful snowmobile and ski trails. Heartland and Paul Bunyan Trails cross in Walker. We are located 10 miles from the City of Walker and 6 miles from the Northern Light Casino. Any gasoline brought to the resort must be stored in your boat or vehicle tanks. No gasoline may be stored in or around cabins.

PORTABLE FISHHOUSE
For rent from safe ice to the end of February:

New 8x14 ft fish houses; with thermostat controlled LP furnace, LP 2 burner stove, port-a-potty, 2 bunks, 6 holes, table & chairs, 4 rattle reels, electric lights, and carpeted.

Fish houses are moved around on known hot spots for walleyes, northern pike, and jumbo perch.

Also available for rent Spear house, portable clam, Vexilar’s, Fish TV’s and Ice Auger. Limited amount of Bait also available right at the resort.
