UPDATED: May 29th, 2020

As Minnesota continues with its phased reopening process we compiled a short list of changes that have and will happen in the coming weeks, please keep in mind if your reservation is later in the summer/fall that guidelines will likely change.

Starting June 1st, we will begin having our lodge open with reduced hours and occupancy, the game room will remain closed. We will begin serving a limited number of ice cream flavors to go with pizza’s and root beer – all of which can be delivered directly to your cabin or picked up to-go.

Our playground, basketball court, tennis court and volleyball area are all open to use – we will not be providing any balls or rackets, so please plan to bring your own. Kayaks, Paddleboards and Canoes are also now available to use. All these items are to be used “at your own risk” we will be periodically cleaning them and have cleaning products available to you to clean if you so choose.

Get togethers like our coffee and donut mornings, hot dog and chili feed and kids fishing tournament are going to stay postponed for the foreseeable future.

The pool and hot tub are to remain closed, they are in phase 3 of Minnesota’s reopening plan which has not been given an opening date yet, as we hear new information, we will keep you updated.

Big Rock continues to offer a relaxing and safe environment for you and your family, especially with 2020 cabin rental rates being at or below 2019.

Big Rock Resort’s top priorities have been and always will be the enjoyment, safety and well-being of our guests and owners. As we continue to monitor the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and its impact, both local and country-wide, we have decided to be aggressive in making sure we do our best to continue to focus on top priorities.

Big Rock is currently between seasons as our winter ice fishing and snowmobiling business has come to an end, the resort has had no guests the last couple of weeks and will continue to be that way until Walleye Opener in early May. We have begun preparations for the summer season and have the following information to share with you.

We are strongly committed to cleanliness – the following are just some of the proactive measures we will be taking:

  • Hand Hygiene – frequent and proper hand washing is vital to combat the spread of any virus
  • Additional cleaning staff – extra staff will be deployed to help with additional cleaning and sanitizing in cabins, lodge, game room and pool area.
  • Extensive deep cleaning measures – additional sanitizing will be performed on all high traffic areas – public bathrooms, flat surfaces, tables, desk, doorknobs and other high touch areas.
  • Deploy hand sanitizers and solutions in various areas throughout the property.

We will continue to monitor the situation, and, as information changes, we will provide you with as up-to-date information as possible.

To allow us to better prepare the resort, lodge, cabins and amenities for incoming guests, we ask that you please settle all invoices the night prior to your departure and follow our new check-in and check-out guidelines as follows:

Check-in 5PM & Check-out 8AM

This is a small modification to our normal check-in and check-out times of 4PM and 9AM. These extra few hours will be very helpful to allow our staff and cleaning crew to perform the additional duties required to provide for your enjoyment and well-being.

We believe that staying with us “up north” is a great vacation option in these difficult times. The open space of our resort allows you to practice social distancing with your families and to enjoy everything the Leech Lake area has to offer, including fishing, boating or just plain relaxing without the need to interact with crowds. However, we realize situations can change and have modified our cancellation policy as follows:

  1. Full refund of deposit if cancellation is made 60 or more days from check-in.
  2. Deposit can be applied to any future reservation in 2020 or 2021 if cancellation is 15-60 days from check-in.
  3. All returning guests may retain their cabin/dates/seniority if there is need to modify or cancel their stay.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call and discuss any of this information with our manager Ray. We are here for you.
